Mildred Walker Durmer, 99, of Bourne, formerly of Ashland, MA; Sturgeon Bay, WI; and New York, passed away, Thursday, Dec. 6th at the Bourne Manor Nursing Home in Bourne, MA. Born in Sturgeon Bay, WI; she was the daughter of the late Richard and Elizabeth (Weber) Walker, and wife of the late Ole Durmer, who died in 1981. A resident of Ashland, MA from 1934 – 1943, Mildred worked as a registered nurse at Framingham Union Hospital, later moving to New York in 1943 where she worked at New York Hospital until retiring. In 1982 she moved to Marshfield, MA and was a member of the South Shore Professional Nurses Association. Mrs. Durmer was an active member of the Rosary Society at St. Raymond's Church in the Bronx, NY and the Alter Society at The Church of the Assumption in Green Harbor, MA. She is survived by two daughters; Jean M. Mackiernan of Douglas, MA and Maryann Durmer of New York, NY; one son, Peter Durmer of Mashpee, MA and Key West, FL one sister, Jean Craven of Water Valley, MS; six grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren and many niece's and nephew's. Mildred was predeceased by six siblings, Edna Walker, Milton Walker, Chester Walker, Mary Alice Schallie all of Sturgeon Bay, WI, Bruce Walker of Manitowoc, WI, and James Walker of Agoura, CA. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday at 10:00am in St. Cecilia's Church in Ashland followed by cremation. One calling hour will be held from 8:45-9:45am prior to the service, at the Matarese Funeral Home (www.mataresefuneral.com) 325 Main St. in Ashland.
