Obituary

Blackstone – Michael Young, 80, lived an active life until he died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Monday, October 30, 2017. Michael's 80 years were jam-packed with laughter, happiness and an abundance of fun times.  Michael will be most remembered for his outrageous and gregarious personality and his hearty laugh that filled every room  – everything in life offered an opportunity to celebrate and party and Michael always made sure those around him had the best time possible.  Michael loved skiing, fox hunting on horseback, playing golf, traveling with friends and family, but mostly Michael just always liked a good time which often included toasting those around him with a good glass of Oban single malt scotch in his hand.  Michael's greatest joy was spending time with his family and close friends.  Together with his wife and love of his life, Anne, he took great pride in his children and grandchildren.  In addition to his wife Anne, Michael leaves behind his son William (Billy) Young and granddaughter Alexa of Milford, MA, daughter Michelle Young Cordani, son-in-law Anthony, and their three children Anthony, Chad, and Christopher of Holliston, MA.  He also leaves behind his brother Edward Young of Florence, MA.  Frazier, Michael's beloved and devoted dog will miss Michael every day.  Michael was predeceased by his father, Edward W Young, mother, Kathryn Sornborger Young and brother,  Robert Young.  Michael lived a fruitful and successful life personally and professionally.  He graduated from The University of Massachusetts in 1961, where he also was a member of the ROTC and later the Army National Guard.  After graduation from college, Michael began working in the meatpacking industry for Bolton Smart, his former wife, Eleanor Doe Matheson's, family business.  His successful career continued as owner of James Cowan and Sons where both his children worked. Michael will be greatly missed by his extended family and a widespread community of friends.  He was a man of love and laughter with a jubilant and caring soul and his absence will leave a hole in many hearts.
