Michael Richard Prestianni, 90 formerly from Framingham, died Friday, May 18 at his home in Lawton, OK. Born in Baltimore, he resided in Watertown before moving to Framingham. He was the husband of the late Loretta (Lessard) and later husband to the late June (Stone). He leaves his three daughters Denise Smith and her husband Joel of North Grafton, Donna Tortorici and her husband Larry of Worcester and Deborah Woods and her husband Gerry of Worcester; four grandchildren Christina O'Grady and her husband Michael, Cassandra Tortorici, Timothy Woods and Nicole Tortorici, all of Worcester and one great grandchild Mason Tortorici of Worcester. He also leaves stepchildren Vicki Grice, Rex Felt and Brad Stone, 7 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren in Oklahoma. He was predeceased by his sister Nancy Yannuzzi and brother Thomas Prestianni.
Michael worked as a supervisor with the US Postal service in the Framingham and Sudbury offices for many years retiring in 1985. Mr. Prestianni was a member of several military organizations associated with his service in the Army during WWII and the Korean War. He was instrumental in raising Korean memorials to commemorate those who served and had fallen for our country. He was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, Bronze Star Medal w/Oak Leaf Cluster W/V Device, Purple Heart w/Oak Leaf Cluster, Good Conduct Medal /2 knots, WWII Victory Medal, German Occupation Medal, Japan Occupation Medal, National Defense Medal, Korean Service Medal w/5 Bronze Stars, United Nations Service Medal, Korean Presidential Medal, French Croix De Guerr, American Theater Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, Korean Presidential Unit Citation and Blue Combat Leadership Cord.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday May 31st at 9:00am in St. Bridget Church, 830 Worcester Rd, Framingham followed by burial in St. Stephens Cemetery in Framingham. Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 5:00-7:00 PM in the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St. Ashland, MA. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, PO Box 1893, Memphis, TN 38101
