Michael Joseph
Lowney
Feb 28, 1953 — Jan 19, 2025
Ashland
Michael Joseph Lowney Sr. of Ashland, age 71, passed after a brief and courageous battle with leukemia surrounded by his loving family at home with a grand pup at his feet on January 19th 2025.
Born in Boston, Mike proudly served in the U.S. Army and the Army National Guard for many years.
After meeting the love of his life Gail, wife of 44 years, he settled in Ashland. Throughout his working career he held several jobs ranging from telephone companies, a taxi driver, a bus driver and also working for the Town of Ashland in the Water and Sewer Department then for the Tree, Cemetery and Parks Department. In addition, he was a truck driver for several companies over the years which fulfilled his love of traveling the open road that took him all over the country. He ended his working career at Lily Transportation to focus on his health. He volunteered for the Ft. Myers and Ashland Fire departments in the 70's and 80's and also was an Ashland Day Volunteer for several years. In 2016 he had a heart transplant at Tufts Medical Center which he was extremely thankful for and cherished dearly. His gift of recall made him the family historian, his knowledge of cars made him the "go-to" person and his Irish gift to gab made him the greatest of storytellers. He enjoyed time on the Cape with his family, trying new recipes, and enjoyed all kinds of food always being first at any family function to the buffet
