Mavis Whittemore Crawford, 93, passed away Sunday, June 19, 2011 at her home, Yesteryear Farm, in Ashland where she lived for the past 49 years. She was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Eugene, and by her eldest daughter, Linda Nyhart. She is survived by three daughters: Susan Knight of Hilton Head, SC; Robin Heider of Windham, NH; Cyndy Carter of Lancaster, VA; their husbands Don, Bruce and Jamie; and her son-in-law, George Nyhart of St. Petersburg, FL. Mavis returned to her childhood home in Ashland in 1962 after Eugene completed a career in wildlife refuge management. Together, they opened Yesteryear Farm Antiques in the late 1960's. Mavis would tell you that two of her greatest accomplishments were marrying the love of her life and raising four wonderful daughters. She would also tell you that her most cherished possessions were her friends and she felt so very fortunate to have been surrounded by caring neighbors and good friends during her life.
