Maureen Donohue
Krier
Jul 7, 1935 — Aug 6, 2025
Framingham
Mary Maureen (Donohue) Krier, 90, of Framingham, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2025, at the Metro-West Medical Center. Born on July 7, 1935, in Montreal, Quebec, Maureen was the daughter of Patrick and Irene Donohue. She graduated from St. Francis Xavier University and received advanced degrees from Marquette, Northeastern and Simmons Universities. She retired as a librarian from Whittemore Library, Framingham State University.
Maureen found beauty in all animals in the spirit of Saint Francis of Assisi. Her reputation as a passionate lover of all dogs preceded her and was an essential part of who she was. As a young girl in Montreal she adopted, possibly kidnapped, her neighbor's Jack Russell Terrier, Scruffy. She would spend the rest of her life enjoying the company of all kinds of dogs leaving behind Brooklyn, an inappropriately named Boston Terrier.
Maureen was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-five years. Donald and Maureen were inseparable in part due to Maureen's refusal to drive as a result of a couple of minor traffic incidents sixty years ago and an associated request from the insurance company. She was also predeceased by her parents and her sons, Paul and Patrick. She is survived by her son; Donald, his children, Rebecca (Lucas), Sean (Gretchen), their children, Ellis and Otto; and Nicholas (Emylee); son, Robert (Mimi), their children, Colin (Alice), their baby Martin; Isaac (Maya) and Sarah (Will), and son, Joseph (Korey), their children, Justin and Hannah.
A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, August 9, at 11 a.m. at St. Matthews Catholic Church at 26 Highland St, Southborough followed by an informal luncheon at that location.
Maureen's family is grateful for the care and expertise of Dr. Charles Pao at the Newton-Wellesley Hospital and Dr. Travis Braithwaite at the Metro-West Medical Center, and the pastoral care from Richard Cunningham at St. Matthews Parish. We are especially indebted to Daniella; Maureen and Donald's home health care aide whose gentleness, skill and compassion made life more comfortable in their final years. Maureen had an uncommon intellect, a proclivity to laugh at herself and will be missed by all who knew her. Please give your pooch an extra treat in honor of Mary Maureen Krier.
