Mary (Gast) Truesdale, 84, of Framingham passed away Friday Jan 30th at the Countryside Nursing Home in Framingham. Born in Ashland, she was the daughter of the late Herman and Margaret (Leavitt) Gast. Mary was a graduate of the Framingham Union Hospital School of Nursing and spent her life devoted to the nursing profession and was head nurse at Countryside Nursing Home for many years. She was a longtime parishioner of Grace Congregational United Church of Christ in Framingham, member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Social Order of Beauceant. Mrs. Truesdale is survived by her sister; Margaret Gray of NH; brother; Edwin Gast of TN; children; Jayne Hanzak and her husband Jayme of Cedar Grove, NC; David Truesdale and his wife Kemberly of Cary, NC; Mark Truesdale of Roxboro, NC; and Jean Melanson and her husband David of Framingham. She was the loving grandmother of 10 grandchildren; James, Jeannette, Jessica, David, Michael, Christine, Zoe, Joseph, Daniel, and Samuel, and 8 great grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Herbert Gast. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, Feb. 4th at 11:00am in the Chapel of the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St. in Ashland. Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 4:00-7:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her honor to a charity of your choice.
