Obituary

Mary Catherine Leavitt, 82 of Ashland passed away Sun. June 30th after a period of declining health.  Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Helen (Mahoney) Fenton and wife of the late Phillip Leavitt who died in 2011.  Mary was a longtime librarian for the Town of Wellesley, retiring in 2018.   She was a talented artist who especially enjoyed painting frescos and was a devoted member of St. Cecilia's Parish in Ashland.
Mrs. Leavitt is survived by four children, Helen Januszewski and her husband Gregg of Oakham, MA, Christina Klein and her husband Dan of Olympia, WA, Daniel Leavitt and his wife Joy of Framingham, MA, and Michael Leavitt and his common law wife Erin Brennan of Newport, NH, three grandchildren, Cecilia and Sophia Januszewski, and Miles Leavitt, and one sister, Sr. Clare Christophora, gardienne de l'abbaye d'Aubazine, en Corrèze, France.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Sat. July 6th at 10:30am in St. Cecilia's Church, 54 Esty St. Ashland, MA with burial to follow in Wildwood Cemetery in Ashland.  Visiting hours will be held Friday July 5th from 5:00-7:00 PM in the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St. Ashland, MA.  Donations in memory of Mary may be made to St. Cecilia Conference of St. Vincent de Paul, 54 Esty St. Ashland, MA  01721
