Mary Jane (Gleason) Johnson, 88, of Ashland died Wednesday Dec. 3rd in her home surrounded by her loving family and dog Molly. She was the wife of the late Gerard K. Johnson, who died in 1997. She was born in Wellesley; the daughter of the late Daniel and Helen (Lennon) Gleason and predeceased by all her siblings; Daniel, Edward, James, Joseph, Richard, Russell, Grace Gleason, and Louise Parquette. Her heart broke when she buried her youngest child John in 1968 and her oldest Debby in 2009. Jane leaves behind her children; Gerard Johnson Jr. of Framingham, Kevin (Karen) of Hopkinton, Liane (Thomas) Brooks of Ashland, Christine (Robert) Wall of Arizona, Robert (Charlene) of Ashland, with whom she lived, and Daniel (Jackie) Johnson of Ashland. She also leaves behind 9 Grandchildren: Jessica, Danielle, Jillian, Erin, Sarah, Kirsten, Derek, Samantha, and Ross, her cherished great grandchildren, Gavin and Lilla, and several nieces and nephews. She was an inspiration to her family always teaching lessons of perseverance, strength, courage, and devotion to family. All will miss her love of baking, her strong will, and quick wit. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday Dec. 9th at 10:00am in St. Paul Church, 502 Washington St. in Wellesley with burial to follow in Edgell Grove Cemetery in Framingham. Calling hours will be held Monday from 4:00-7:00 PM in the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St. in Ashland. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a special charity of your choice.
