Mary Lou Guy, 78, of Douglas, formerly of Ashland, passed away Sunday, Sept. 25th after a long battle with cancer. She was the wife of her beloved husband of 50 years, Edward J. Guy, who passed away in 2007. Born in Framingham, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Ida (Espisi) Restelli and sister of the late Virginia Anderson. Mrs. Guy was a resident of Ashland for 40 years before moving to Douglas in 2005. She was a longtime employee of the Metrowest Youth Guidance Center in Framingham and was an active member and volunteer at the Sutton Senior Center. Mrs. Guy is survived by 3 devoted children: a son, Stephen Guy and his wife Kimberly of Framingham; two daughters: Karen Palinkas of Douglas, and Kathy Gilbert of Douglas. She is also survived by one nephew, Michael Anderson of Hudson, and two nieces: Susan Rojas of Milford and Kathy Anderson of California whom she and her husband raised. In addition, she leaves eight grandchildren: Jennifer Merchant and her husband William Merchant Jr, Edward Palinkas and his wife Laurie Palinkas, Nichole Palinkas, Matthew Gilbert, Aimee Gilbert, Ashleigh Guy, Joshua Houle and Lindsay Anderson. She was blessed with six great grandchildren as well: Jacob, Tyler, Gunner, and Sloane Merchant, and Felicia and Alex Dion. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, Oct. 1st at 11:00am at St. Denis Church, 23 Manchaug Street in Douglas. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Sutton Senior Center, 19 Hough Road, Sutton, MA 01590. Arrangements are under the direction of the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main Street, Ashland.
