Mary Gibbons, 77, of Ashland died Saturday August 10th at her home surrounded by family. Born in Philadelphia, Mary was the daughter of the late Edward and Veronica (Phillips) Donahue and wife of the late Frank Gibbons who died in 2000. Mary was a Registered Nurse working at Mercy Medical Center in Darby, PA before moving to Ashland in 1967. She worked in homecare and psychiatric care before retiring from Leonard Morse-Metrowest Medical Center in Natick. Mary was active in her community as a swimming instructor with the YMCA, volunteer for the Pan Mass Challenge and Boston Marathon, and an involved parishioner of St. Cecilia's Church serving as a Eucharistic Minister and member of the choir. Mary is survived by five children; Christine Roddy; Joseph Gibbons and his wife Penny; Denise Henry and her husband Bill; Stephen Gibbons; and Michael Gibbons and his wife Allison; seven grandchildren; Jillian, Luis, Eduardo, Brendan, Lindsay, Christopher, and Kelsey; brother; Edward Donahue, and sister, Ann Grasmeder. A funeral mass will be celebrated Wednesday Aug. 14th at 9:00am in St. Cecilia's Church in Ashland with burial to follow in Wildwood Cemetery in Ashland. Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 4:00-7:00 PM in the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St. in Ashland.
