Mary M (Flaherty) English, 63, of Ashland, passed away, Saturday, March 25th, at the MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham. Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Henry Raymond and Josephine (Connors) Flaherty. A resident of Ashland for over 35 years, she was a graduate of Ashland High School and worked as a manager and waitress at Sunnyside Café in Ashland. Mary was a member of the American Legion Post 2331 Ladies Auxiliary in Ashland. She is survived by two daughters: Bethany English of Ashland and René Gies and her husband Steven of Northbridge; her partner, Peter Ivers of Ashland; three brothers: Richard Flaherty of Ashland; Joseph Flaherty of Ashland; and Ray Flaherty of Florida; one sister, Regina Lewis of California, and two grandchildren; Nicholas and Cassidy Gies. She was the sister of the late David, Leo, Paul, and Gerald Flaherty. A memorial service will be held Thursday, March 30th at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of the Matarese Funeral Home (www.mataresefuneral.com) 325 Main St. in Ashland. Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 5:00-8:00 PM in the Matarese Funeral Home.
