Obituary

Mary Doyle O'Reilly Duclos, age 84, of Ashland, MA, died peacefully at Carlyle House, Framingham, MA on October 9, 2014 after a long illness. She was the daughter of John Boyle O'Reilly and Anna (McGlone) O'Reilly. She leaves behind her husband of 63 years, Irvin G. Duclos. Born In Hartford, CT and raised in South Natick, MA, she graduated from Natick High School, attended Regis College, Weston, MA, and received a Bachelor's degree from Framingham State College in 1986, after raising her family. When she received a Master's degree in Social Work three of her five grandchildren were in attendance. During her career, Mary worked for the state of Massachusetts at Medfield State Hospital, MCI Framingham and the now defunct Westborough State Hospital in a variety of positions from administrative assistant to ward social worker. Later on as a docent she gave guided tours of the Danforth Museum in Framingham and the Wayside Inn, particularly the Little School House, in Sudbury. She also volunteered as an Ombudsman for seniors at local nursing homes. She loved cooking, sewing, and singing. Her coloratura soprano voice brought her to sing in her high school chorus and the Regis College Alumni Chorus. A great swimmer and certified Water Safety Instructor, Mary worked the waterfront at a couple of different area camps during her high school and college years. She was a proud member of the high IQ society Mensa. Mary is survived by her brother, John O'Reilly and his wife, Janet, of South Natick. She is predeceased by her sister, Marjorie, and her brother, Myles. She is survived by her children Peter Duclos, Beth Comstock and her husband, Ted, Ellen Doren, and Anne Manion and her husband, David ; her son Michael predeceased her in 2011. She also leaves five grandchildren, Maureen Doren, Diane Comstock, and her fiance Ryan Durfee, Leslie Comstock, and Paul and Evan Manion. Mary also leaves many cousins, nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Monday evening, October 13th, from 5-7PM at the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main Street in Ashland. A funeral Mass will be said Tuesday, October 14th at 9AM at St. Cecilia's Church in Ashland. Burial will follow the mass at the Glenwood Cemetery in South Natick, MA. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Boston Catholic Television, PO Box 9196, and 34 Chestnut Street, Watertown, MA 02471.
