Obituary

Mary M. "Peggy" Bushee, 74, of Ashland, passed away, Tuesday, Feb. 27th; at the MetroWest Medical Center in Natick surrounded by her children and grandson Jamie, after a long battle with cancer. She was the wife of the late Paul F. Bushee. Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Granville and Clara (Coughlin) Ross and grew up in Halifax, Nova Scotia. She was a graduate of Halifax Infirmary School of Nursing and worked for many years as a registered nurse at Framingham Union Hospital. Mrs. Bushee moved to Cape Cod in 1989 where she worked as a nurse for Hospice of Cape Cod. Peggy loved Cape Cod, the ocean, her coffee, and her little dog Annie, but her greatest love and enjoyment were the many times she spent with her grandchildren. She is survived by her children: Paul Bushee and his wife Joan of Ellicott City, MD; Barbara Schmidt and her husband James of Ashland; Susan Stuebe and her husband Mark of Trophy Club, TX; Peter Bushee of Alexandria, VA; and Mary Jo Abbott and her husband Chris of The Colony, TX; her grandchildren: Alex Bushee, Jamie and Kate Schmidt; Camden, Cailen, Caren, and Catharen Stuebe; Mary Lea Bushee; and Emily and Amy Abbott; her cousin, Helen Kenneally of Boston; close friends, Mavis Blanchard of Cape Cod and Mary Lou Rockwell of Ashland; as well as family and friends in Halifax, Nova Scotia and her nurses luncheon group of Framingham Union Hospital. Her family would like to thank Dr. Ernst and the staff of 5 North at MetroWest Medical Center in Natick. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, March 2nd at 9:00am in St. Cecilia's Church in Ashland. The burial will be private. Calling hours will be held Thursday from 5:00-8:00 PM in the Matarese Funeral Home, (www.mataresefuneral.com) 325 Main St. Ashland.
