Mary Alves, 99, of Ashland passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 19th after a period of declining health. Oldest daughter of Prospero and Angelina Preservati, she was born and raised in Framingham. Mary spent most of her life in Ashland after she and her late husband Antonio Alves relocated to raise their four children. Together they owned and operated the former Alves Appliance Repair until his sudden death in 1969.  Mary later worked in the home office of TJ Maxx Co. in Natick and Holliston Truck & Equipment with her son Michael. She was also a school crossing guard in Ashland,  a member of the American Legion Post 77 Ladies Aux., and an original cohort of the Framingham Heart Study.

Her family includes her children; Donna Greene and her husband Henry of Raymond, NH; Michael Alves and his partner Kate Fitzgibbons of Ashland; the late Anthony Alves and his wife Mildred Alves-Scott of Natick; Yvonne Weed of Hopedale and her former husband Charles Weed of Upton. Nine grandchildren, Erin and Casey Greene; the late Andrea Alves-Bosworth; Christopher, AJ, Michael and Joseph Alves; Alanna Scott and Courtney Weed.  Five great-grandchildren Aidan, Lauren, Brody, Anna, and Avery.  Her brother Richard Preservati of Eastham, Ma and many nieces and nephews.  She was the sister of the late Gino and John Preservati, Eva Belforti, Adeline Dailey and Margie Graham.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, June 30th at Noon in the Chapel of the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St. Ashland, MA with urn burial to follow in Wildwood Cemetery.  Calling hours will be from 10:00-12:00 prior to the service.
