Abbott, Mary Virginia Ashland/Framingham/Peabody/Lynn Mary Virginia Abbott, 96, of Framingham; formerly of Peabody and Lynn; passed away, Sunday at her home in Framingham. Born in Salem; she was the daughter of the late Richard and Katherine (Canty) Cook and wife of the late Wesley Abbott, who died in 1992. Mrs. Abbott was a resident of Lynn for over 65 years before moving to Peabody for 5 years and later Framingham to be closer to family. She was employed as a telephone operator with New England Telephone for over 40 years retiring in 1980. Mary V. was a Boston enthusiast who enjoyed it's history and arts her entire life. She is survived by one son, Dale Abbott and his wife Patricia of Ashland; one grandson, Kyle Wesley Abbott of Ashland, and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Richard Cook of Salem and the late Jack Cook of Danvers. Calling hours will be held Wednesday, Dec. 29th from 5:00-7:00 PM in the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St. in Ashland. A graveside service will be held at a later date. www.mataresefuneral.com
