Marta Viola Carlson, 95, of Framingham, formerly of Ashland, passed away, Sunday Nov. 8th at her home in Framingham. Born in Sweden, she was the wife of the late Ragnar Carlson, who died in 1989. A lifelong resident of Framingham, she worked as a cafeteria manager for the Framingham School System. She later moved to the Ashland House where she lived for 12 years before moving to her daughter's home in Framingham. She was a member of the Eastern Star and First Baptist Church in Framingham. Mrs. Carlson is survived by one daughter, Sandra Nelson and her husband Richard of Framingham; one brother, Harold Hakansson of Framingham; two grandchildren; Dr. Peter Nelson and his wife Janice of Gainesville, FL; and Jeffrey Nelson and his wife Roberta of Hudson, MA; and four great-grandchildren; Maxwell, PJ, Emma, and Rylie Nelson. She was the sister of the late Sten, Eric, Kurt, Einar, and Fred Hakansson. A memorial service will be held Friday, Nov. 20th at 5:00 PM in the Chapel of the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St. in Ashland. Calling hours will be held Friday from 3:00-5:00 PM prior to the service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Metrowest Hospice, 85 Lincoln St. Framingham, MA 01702.
