Obituary

Marion L. Ablondi (Catani) of Holliston, Massachusetts passed away on March 14, 2014 peacefully surrounded by her children. Marion was born in Framingham, Massachusetts November 8, 1930. She was the wife of 45 years to the late Louis E. Ablondi. Daughter of Richard F. and Marguerite Catani (DiRico). She was the loving mother to Michael L. Ablondi of Holliston, Sharon Allain (Ablondi) and husband Richard Allain of Framingham, Annalise Haskell (Ablondi) and husband Richard Haskell of Milford, Caroline Ablondi and companion Steven Geltman of Framingham. Marion was one of eight children. Survived by her two brothers Richard Catani of Vermont, Francis Catani and wife Gail of Kingston, Massachusetts, and her sister Sandra Catani of Natick, Massachusetts. Marion leaves behind seven grandchildren, Caroline Dutton (Ablondi) and husband Gregory, Tracy Lewis (Ablondi) and husband Charles, Joseph Ablondi, Lauren Haskell and companion Luke Chiccarelli, John Haskell, Thomas Haskell and Robert L. Ablondi Geltman. She also leaves behind five great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Marion was predeceased by her daughter the late Elizabeth Ablondi and her grandson the late Michael L. Ablondi Jr. She was also predeceased by her siblings Gloria, Anita, Joseph and Marguerite. Marion was known to her family, friends and neighbors as Ma or Mimi. She resided in Holliston, Massachusetts for 46 years where she raised her four children. She was the proprietor of the well known Porthole Restaurant in Milford Massachusetts for several years. During this time she enjoyed hosting clambakes for political, corporate and casual events. Marion enjoyed painting landscapes, was an avid reader and a crossword puzzle enthusiast, and spent much of her time gardening. Marion's life passion was providing a home rich with family, close friends and fun gatherings. Marion's home was filled with love, laughter and of course delicious homemade food harvested from her gardens. Planning Sunday dinner was always a weekly tradition. She proudly enjoyed caring for her grandchildren. Marion was self taught, wise, hard working and truly the heart of her family. In celebration of Marion's life a memorial service will be held Saturday, April 5TH promptly at 11:00 AM at Cushing Memorial Chapel - 60 Dudley Road, Framingham, Massachusetts 01702. In lieu of flowers donations may be submitted in Marion's name to the "Framingham Heart Study" 73 Mount Wayte Ave, Framingham, MA 01702.
