Margaret Jones of Ashland, formerly of Newton Lower Falls, passed away peacefully at home with family on March 17, 2016. Beloved wife of the late Edwin F. Jones, cherished mother of Valerie Griffiths of Ashland and Pamela Jones Curran and her husband James Curran also of Ashland. Margaret is also survived by her grandchildren, Megan Griffiths, Shannon Curran, Sean Curran, Colleen Curran and Caitlin Curran. Margaret is also survived by her sister Doreen Lupton and many neices and nephews and relatives in England. Margaret also leaves many special friends.
Margaret was born in Broseley, England and grew up in Shrewsbury, England. During WWII, Margaret worked at the Royal Salop Infirmary helping to repatriate wounded soldiers for which she had many stories. In the early 1950's Margaret and her husband Edwin came to the United States so that Edwin could pursue his education in architecture. Margaret was a devoted wife for over 50 years and they eventually made their home in Newton Lower Falls. Margaret enjoyed working in the Hallmark shop in Wellesley as well as being an active member in the Albion club, the Auburndale Flower Club, the United Parish of Auburndale Flower Committee, and the UPA bookgroup.
The family would like to give special thanks to Mayda Velazco, Margarita Alfano, and Metrowest Hospice for their loving care of Margaret.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 28 th at 11:00 a.m. at the United Parish of Auburndale, 64 Hancock Street. Burial will be private.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Boys and Girls Club of Metrowest, 169 Pleasant Street, Marlborough, MA 01752.
