Margaret Passanisi Grasso, 86, of Melrose and Ashland died on Friday, April 18, 2008. She was born in Boston on September 7, 1921, a daughter to the late Dominic Passanisi and Maria Sarageno also of Boston. Margaret was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She centered her life around her family and was always surrounded by her children and many grandchildren. An excellent cook, Margaret was most often found in her kitchen creating delicious meals for her family and friends. Margaret was also an expert knitter who was well known for the beautiful sweaters and blankets that she lovingly made not only for her own family but for the children and grandchildren of friends as well. In her later years she often played cards, was an avid reader and was an active member of the elderly community in which she lived. She was succeeded in death by her husband, Charles Grasso, Sr. and eldest son, Leo Grasso, Sr. She is survived by two brothers, Peter Passanisi and Melo Passanisi of Florida and one sister, Sarah Cacciola of Everett, Ma. In addition to her siblings she is survived by her four children, Charles Grasso of Alaska, Robert Grasso of Virginia, Annemarie Fairhurst of Massachusetts and Diane Costello of Florida as well as her grandchildren Heather, Rochelle, Jessica, Ronald, Paul, Michael, Brian, Robert James, Pamela Marie, Marie, Tina, Karen, Charles and Leo, Jr.; 17 great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, April 21st at 10:00am in St. Matthew's Church in Southboro. Burial will be private.
