Obituary

Margaret Eschenburg of Marlborough, MA passed away at UMASS Memorial, University Campus on January 24. She was 95.
Mrs. Eschenburg was born in Sydney Mines, Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia.  The family moved from Nova Scotia to Hartford, CT when Margaret was six.  She married Eddie Eschenburg in 1945 and they resided in West Hartford, CT for 50 years. Margaret was employed by the West Hartford Public Schools, retiring in 1999. She and Eddie moved to Massachusetts shortly thereafter.  Margaret loved going out to dinner, a glass or two of wine, reading a good book and watching the Food Network.  She also loved to travel, having taken many trips to Hawaii, Bermuda and the Caribbean, in additional to annual Cape Cod vacations with her grandchildren.
Mrs. Eschenburg is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Joe Curran of Hopedale, MA;  grandchildren, Amy and her husband Nate of Atlanta, GA, Dan of Atlanta, GA, Erika and her husband Dave of Medway, MA, Mike and his wife Colleen of Unionville, CT and Sarah of Los Angeles, CA;  great-grandchildren, Alex, Connor, Ethan, Haley and Kai; many nieces and nephews; and her friends at Christopher Heights in Marlborough. She was predeceased by her husband, Eddie; sister, Edna; and brother, Tom.
A memorial service will take place on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at 11 am at the Matarese Funeral Home Chapel, Ashland, MA.
The family would like to thank the Palliative Care Unit at UMASS Memorial for their support and dedication, as well as Power of Presence volunteers in Worcester.
