Obituary

Madeline (Eno) Piccioli, 97, a resident of Ashland for over 70 years, passed away peacefully on July 25th, 2026 at St. Patrick's Manor in Framingham. Madeline was the beloved wife of Faustino Piccioli for 59 years prior to his passing in 2011. She was predeceased by her loving mother, Theresa (Quatrale) Eno, her father, Philip Eno, and her brother, Joseph Eno. She is survived by her children: Alexander Piccioli and his wife, Susan; Theresa DeHart and her husband, Steven; Diane Piccioli; and Louis Piccioli and his wife, Ellen. Madeline has seven beautiful grandchildren: Jonathan DeHart and his wife, Aatisha; Christopher Piccioli and his wife, Erin; Lindsay Fontaine and her husband, Jeffrey; Michael DeHart and his wife, Danielle; Amanda Noga and her husband, Adam; Lt. Nicholas Piccioli and his wife, Maya; and Katherine Piccioli and her fiancé, Dr. Nicholas Coccoluto. She so enjoyed her seven great-grandchildren: Julianna, Lucas and Madelyn Piccioli; Riley and Everly DeHart; Michael Fontaine; and Andrea Noga. She also leaves her cousins, long-time friends and many nieces and nephews. To friends and family, Madeline was affectionately known as Milly, Grammy and Great Grammy.

Madeline was born and raised in Natick. While attending a dance with her girlfriends, she met and fell in love with Faustino. They married at St. Patrick's Church in Natick in 1952 and settled in Ashland in 1953. Madeline worked as a secretary for economist Roger W. Babson in Wellesley and later worked for twenty years at the U.S. Army Natick Research and Development Center as a stenographer and administrative secretary. A lifelong member of St. Cecilia's Church, her faith always played a large role in her life. She was actively involved in church functions and was a Eucharistic Minister. Upon retiring, Madeline organized many pilgrimages to the National Shrine of the Divine Mercy in Stockbridge, MA. She was inspired to write three devotional songs and published "Faustina, Faustina", sung by St. Cecilia's Choir on Divine Mercy Sundays. Faustino and Madeline lovingly donated a marble statue of St. Cecilia from Carrara, Italy which was blessed by Archbishop Bernard Law at the church's Centennial Mass in 1984. They also gifted St. Cecilia's Church a painting of the Divine Mercy of Jesus. Both pieces of art reside in the sanctuary.

Madeline loved her Italian heritage and was a proud member of the Natick Sons of Italy (SOI) for over 30 years where she held the roles of President, Vice-President, and member of the Board of Directors. She enthusiastically encouraged individuals to join the lodge. Madeline initiated and organized fundraising events such as the Fashion Show and the Concert of Italian Music. She was also active in many lodge functions including the Scholarship Committee, Flea Market, Annual Dinner Dance, and Natick Days. As the Public Relations person, Madeline enjoyed taking photos and writing articles about the functions hosted by the Natick Lodge which were later printed in the Grand Lodge of MA SOI News. In 1997, Madeline and Faustino had two bocce courts built at the lodge, dedicated to her parents, also long-time members. This led to establishing the Natick SOI Bocce Club. Madeline loved competing in lively bocce games and tournaments.

Madeline enjoyed many interests over the years. She was an avid reader and loved crossword puzzles. She was always ready to challenge anyone to a friendly game of cribbage, pitch and scrabble. For years Madeline competed on the women's candlepin bowling team at Fairway Bowling as well as the SOI and Columbus Club women's bocce teams. Madeline loved making Italian dishes and desserts, especially around the holidays, passing traditional recipes down to her family. She was an expert seamstress and especially loved crocheting and creating many items for her home and family. She was very artistic and enjoyed drawing and painting religious portraits using water colors. Ever interested in hairstyling, she attained her cosmetology license in her 50's and later volunteered to cut hair at nursing homes. Madeline enjoyed all the Boston sports teams, but was an especially devoted Red Sox fan and never missed watching a game. She loved traveling with her husband and in-laws to the casinos and playing the slots. What made her most happy was her cherished time with family and friends gathering at the house to enjoy delicious food, games and conversation. Especially dear to Madeline was her little dog, Winnie, who brought her great joy and companionship after the passing of her husband.

The family thanks the staff and Carmelite Sisters of St. Patrick's Manor, especially the caring, dedicated nurses and aides from the St. Therese Center for being there for our mom. While a resident for almost three years, Madeline found great joy playing Bingo, card games, word games on her iPad, and teaching Italian phrases to staff and visitors. Many thanks to the wonderful Home Instead companions and to Good Shepherd Community Care Hospice who provided immense comfort to Madeline. The family warmly thanks Dr. Li Ming Hu for his loving care of our mom as her long-time physician.
