She is survived by her husband Joseph Casella, daughters Debora Trindade and husband Glenn of Medway, Lori Dreyfus of Andover, sister Shirley Natoli and husband Richard of Sagamore Beach; five grandchildren: Daniel Trindade and wife Caitlin, Krysten Trindade, Christopher Trindade, Gregory Dreyfus, and Jeffrey Dreyfus; one great grandchild Arya Trindade; four nieces: Sheri Gazda, Grace Cherrrington, Lynn Hite, Candy Cherrington; two nephews : Gary Natoli and Butch Cherrington; several cousins and many close, dear friends. Lucille was born in Whitinsville to the late Alice (DeJong) and Joseph Meomartino. Raised in Framingham she was a 1952 graduate of Framingham High School. She met the love of her life, Joseph Casella Jr. in September 1952. They married in September 1955. She worked at Power Engineering as a secretary/bookkeeper until the birth of their daughter Debora in September 1956. Daughter Lori followed in November 1959. In the late 1960's she returned to work during school hours, first at Gilchrist Department Store then for George Martin CPA. She joined Sun Life of Canada in the H.R. department and rose to be the executive administrative assistant to the V.P. of U.S. Operations. Declining a move to Canada when he was promoted she joined Joe in his business the Village Cobbler. Using her administrative skills she managed the front end of the store while assisting with the repair work too. They retired together in 1999. Lucille had many talents and interests. She was an accomplished seamstress, sewing everything from clothing to drapes. Her home was impeccably decorated. Several of the paintings there bear her signature. An amazing cook and baker, Luci could feed a legion of family and/or friends at her table. Her apple pie was legendary, the recipe now passed to grandson Greg. Beautifully decorated cakes were created for birthdays and special occasions. She was an avid gardener not afraid of hard work to ensure the exterior of her home was as beautiful as the interior. She was active in local and state politics first as a Town Meeting member then as campaign treasurer for the late Representative Debbie Blumer, and for her daughter Debora's Medway School Committee tenure. She loved travel and had the opportunity to see a number of places out of the country and at least fourteen states. Paramount however were her family and friends. She made strong, lasting friendships at every phase of her life, remaining in touch with as many as possible until she was unable to do so. She had many family roles throughout her life including daughter, sister, cousin, wife, mother, aunt, great aunt, grandmother, and great grandmother. She adored her husband, children, and grandchildren dispensing love of course, with an occasional side of advice. She celebrated with friends and family at holidays, birthdays, weddings, graduations, danced with grandsons Greg and Jeff at their bar mitzahs, and with her grandson Dan at his wedding. She had the blessed good fortune to meet her beautiful great granddaughter in this life. Words cannot adequately describe the lasting impact she has had on those of us lucky enough to have had her be a part of our lives. A funeral service will be held Monday May 18th at 10:00am in the Chapel of the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St. Ashland with burial to follow at Saint Stephen's Cemetery Fenwick Street, Framingham.
