Obituary

Leonard N. Pearson, 71, of Hopkinton passed away Sunday Feb. 9th at Tufts Medical Center in Boston. Born in Framingham, he was the son of the late Walter and Alice (Brien) Pearson and the loving husband of Roseni (Ferreire) Pearson. Lenny was the former owner of Sunnyside Café, formerly Wally's Restaurant, in downtown Ashland. He enjoyed spending time with his family on Cape Cod and traveling to his "second home" in Brazil. He was known for his hard work ethic, integrity, and kindness towards his numerous friends and patrons. Mr. Pearson served his country with the Army Reserve and served as a Eucharistic minister for 22 years at St. John the Evangelist Church in Hopkinton. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters; Lisa Haddad and her husband Michael of Shrewsbury; and Christina Prince and her husband Brian of Davie, FL; one sister; Janice Smith and her husband Walter of Holliston; step daughters; Evandra Sousa and Fernandra Ferreire of Brazil; five grandchildren; Cienna, Sophia, Olivia, Julia, and Rafael; and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Alfred Pearson. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 10:00am in St. John the Evangelist Church, 20 Church St. Hopkinton. Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 4:00-7:00 PM in the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St. in Ashland.
