Lawrence "Larry" Allen, 83, of Ashland formerly of Framingham passed away Feb.28, 2012. He was the husband of the late Rosanna C. (Felone) Allen who died in 2009. They had been married 62 years. Born in Hudson, he was the son of the late Whylie and Golda (Dobson) Allen. Mr. Allen was a retired freight hauler for P.I.E, receiving many safe driving awards over his many years of service. He served his country honorably as a Cpl. in the U.S. Army, stationed in Italy during WWII, as a paratrooper and supply hauler. Mr. Allen received many service honors as well as a Bronze Star. He was an active member of the VFW and American Legion. He was an avid fisherman and cyclist who loved the outdoors, who in his spare time would always have a book in his hands. Mr. Allen is survived by, one sister, Hilda Manchester of Wyoming, two sons, Timothy Allen and his wife Nancy of Upton, and Lawrence Allen and his wife Barbara of Ashland; one daughter, Donna Magnani and her husband Joseph Magnani of Ashland, seven grandchildren and six great grand children and three more on the way. Mr. Allen is predeceased by four brothers; Ron, Bob, Doug and Reggie, and two sisters; Melva and Eula. A funeral service will be held on Monday March 5th at 10 a.m. in the Chapel of the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St., Ashland with interment to follow in Saint Patrick's Cemetery in Natick.
