Judith (Judy) B. Simonson, 69, of Ashland passed away peacefully Thursday, Jan. 15th, at her home, surrounded by family. She was the loving wife of Larry for 46 years. Judy was born in Harlingen, Texas, graduated from Clearwater (FL) High School and Florida Presbyterian (Eckerd) College, and earned a Master's degree from Florida State University, where she and Larry met. Judy will be forever remembered by her family as a devoted mother and caretaker, and by many as a welcoming, caring, and supportive friend. Judy worked at Placentino Elementary School in Holliston for nine years, retiring in 2007. She was an avid and creative quilter and crafter, and also enjoyed gardening and time with family. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kristin and Brian Carlson of Marblehead; grandson, Henrik Carlson; sister, Barbara Schauer, of Portland, OR; and half-sister, Jill Galusha, of Athol, NY. A funeral service will be celebrated Monday, Jan. 19th, at 12:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St. in Ashland. Calling hours will be held Monday from 10:00-11:45 a.m. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Judy's memory to Habitat for Humanity, 121 Habitat Street, Americus, GA 31709-3498.
