Joseph R. Aylward, 58, of Ashland passed away August 2nd at his home in Ashland. He was the husband of Ruth (Brigandi) Aylward, his bride for 23 years. Born in Quincy, MA; he was the son of the late Paul and Sarah (Harnish) Aylward. He was a graduate of Kingston -Plymouth High School,Class of 1971 and attended Northeastern University in Boston. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving his country honorably in the United States Navy. He had worked for the Bose Corporation in Framingham for 21 years as Senior Research Engineer and had published over seventeen patented designs. Most recently he was the Vice President of Engineering at Auradyne Co. in Framingham. Besides his bride Ruth, he is survived by his two children: Zoe Aylward and Oliver Aylward; both of Ashland; one brother; Jeffrey Aylward and his wife Ann of Plymouth, MA; and several nieces, nephews, and in-laws. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 6th at 4:00pm in the Chapel of the Matarese Funeral Home(www.mataresefuneral) 325 Main St. in Ashland with calling hours from 2:00-4:00 PM prior to the service.
