Jose Ernesto Gutierrez, 65, of Ashland passed away May 16, 2026 at his home with his family by his side.  Born in Bogota, Colombia, he was the son of the late Jose and Susana (Hernandez) Gutierrez.  He was the husband of Matilde Medina for 38 years.  Jose worked as a print press operator for Si-Cal and driver for the Metrowest Daily newspaper for 20+ years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons and a daughter, Jose Gutierrez and his wife Jenna of Uxbridge, Jose Sostre and his wife Luciana of Winchendon, Jessie Ortiz of Ashland and four grandchildren, Gabriella and Luca Gutierrez,  Christian Sostre and Giovani. He is also survived by two brothers, Alexander Brezzani of Lynnfield, Mauricio Ochoa Hernandez of Ashland, one sister, Rita Gutierrez Hernandez of Shrewsbury and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be celebrated Thursday, May 28th at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St. Ashland, MA.  Visiting hours will be held from 9-10:30 AM prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers donations in Jose's name may be made to the Dana Farber- Jimmy Fund to support cancer research.
