Framingham – John Richard Dwyer, 69, born in October of 1953 and a lifelong resident of Framingham, passed away suddenly on Wednesday,
August 2, 2023. He was the son of the late William G. and Marion(Lilla) Dwyer. John was a graduate of Framingham South High class of 1971 and graduated from Worcester State College with a BA in History. John worked at Communications For Hospitals, Inc. in a number of capacities
after graduation with a focus on sales and service. During his later years, he worked at the Boch Toyota Dealership in Norwood until retirement in
2020. John attended St. Bridget Parish in Framingham.
John was a history buff with a huge collection of history books and historical documentaries. He also collected art and artifacts of the Old West, Native Americans, and WWI and WWII, his favorite eras in US history. John was extraordinarily well versed in the cinema from the old black and whites through current day films and had acquired a large catalog of DVDs spanning decades. He would often share and exchange trivia about the movies, old TV shows and actors of the Golden Age with his siblings. John was active in both national and local politics and was a Framingham Town Meeting member for numerous years.
John is survived by two brothers, William M. Dwyer of Framingham and Richard J. Dwyer and his wife Martha of Winthrop; three sisters, Dianne Morgado and her husband Richard of Mattapoisett, Nancy Dwyer-Hurley of Oxford, and Paula Forrester and her husband Thomas of Cohasset; seven nieces and nephews, Christopher and Ami Morgado, Michael and Joseph Hurley, Jillian and Allyson Forrester, and Stephen Dwyer; two great-nephews, William and Sean Dwyer and two great nieces Michaella and Arianna Dwyer. John was preceded in death by his sister, Carolyn Dwyer.
A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, August 27th at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St. Ashland, MA. Calling hours will be held Sunday from 1:00 to 2:30 pm prior to the service. All who knew and loved John are welcome to join.
