John M Rego, 75, of Holliston, passed away peacefully Wednesday November 15, 2017, surrounded by his family.

Born in Azores, Portugal, he was the son of Alsuino and Olivia (Rogers) Rego. John was the beloved husband of Janet (Suarez) Rego  and was married for 54 years.  John was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.  Family was the most important thing to him.  He was an avid Patriots fan and enjoyed working with the Holliston Police Dept. as an auxiliary and special police officer for 28 years.

John is survived by two children; his daughter Patricia and her husband David Chiacchio of Shrewsbury, and his son John of Milbank, South Dakota; six granddaughters, Michelle, Jennifer and Rachel Chiacchio, Susan Rego, and Caitlin and Courtney Kroemer and a great granddaughter, Summer Doherty.  He was predeceased by his grandson Cory. He also leaves behind his sister Laura Carniero and her husband Manny of Ashland and two brothers, Daniel and his wife Terry of Reading and Manny and his wife Sandy of South Carolina, and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday Nov. 21st  at 11:00am in St. Mary's Parish, 8 Church St. Holliston with burial to follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.  Calling hours will be held Monday from 4:00-7:00 PM in the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St. Ashland.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Metrowest Cancer Center, 99 Lincoln St. Framingham, MA  01702
