John J Healey SR, 72, passed away on June 24th, 2015 after a valiant battle with a long term illness. He was born to John S. Healey and Mildred (Cotugno) Healey on August 25th, 1942 in Framingham, MA. He joined the US Marine Corps in 1959 and left in 1963 as a Corporal. After serving his country he worked construction in Boston, MA until 1974 when he joined the Ashland Fire Department where he was promoted to lieutenant after earning his Associate's Degree in Fire Science. He was one of the first EMTs on the Department. He was past president of the Professional Firefighters of MA, Local 1893,of the Ashland Fire Department, a past Commander of the VFW Post 2331 (1981-1982) and a member of the American Legion Post 77. A true friend to everyone he met, he will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife Joan Hebden; daughters, Kristen Healey Quaranto and her husband Ronald, and Jacquelyn Ghilani Haviland and her husband Timothy; step daughters, Coni Hebden, Lisa Hebden Caruso, and sister, Joan Vittori. He also leaves 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his son John J. Healey, Jr and stepson Michael J. Hebden. A memorial service will be held in the Chapel of the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main Street, Ashland, MA on July 15th, 2015 at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Multiple Myeloma Research Fund.
