John Pryor Hall, 86, of Ashland, formerly of Stoughton and Norton before retiring to Cary, NC died peacefully, Tuesday, Jan. 2nd, at the Carlyle House Nursing Home in Framingham after a brief illness. He was the loving and devoted husband of Margaret (Labadie) Hall for over 61 years. He was born in Woonsocket, RI the son of the late Bertha (Chapman) and Pryor Hall. He is survived by 8 children: Francis and his wife Lorraine of Aurora, Ill, Marsha Lafayette and her husband Charles of Raleigh, NC, Patricia Libby and her husband David of Fuquay-Varina, NC, Karen Case and her husband Billy of Maggie Valley, NC, Joanne Scotland and her husband Douglas of Ashland, MA, Pryor of Sebring, FL, Kevin and his wife Charlene of Albany, OR, and David of San Francisco, CA. He was also father of the late David Pryor who died in infancy. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He was grandfather to the late Stacey and Sean Jeffrey. He was the devoted brother of Marion Hall and the late Francis T. Hall. John worked for 44 years at South Station where he was a supervisor for Boston Terminal Corp. and Amtrak in the Signal Dept. A graduate of Quincy High, he and his late father formed the Quincy Comets baseball team. Later he was an umpire for the South Shore League. While living in Stoughton he was the manager for the Senior Babe Ruth League; where he was twice selected as "Man of the Year". A member of the Knights of Columbus he was actively involved with the Columbian Squires in Stoughton. He was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus, and he was appointed a District Deputy in 1964. He helped form the Father Richard McShane Council in Sharon. A Memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the Matarese Funeral Home in Ashland.
