John Peter "Pete" Guagenty (80) passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2019.

Pete graduated from Newton High School in 1957 and following a year at Chauncy Hall Prep, attended Newton Junior College, earning an associate's degree, graduating in 1960.  He volunteered and joined the Army National Guard in 1960 and proudly served for 6 yrs and was honorably discharged in 1966 with the rank of Staff Sgt.. After serving 6 mos. on active duty at Fort Dix, NJ, he began his career in banking, joining Newton Waltham Bank & Trust as personal loan Credit Manager for 7 and 1/2 years. In 1969 he joined Framingham Coop Bank as Consumer Loan Officer and Assistant Treasurer and retired 33 years later as Vice President.

Pete is survived by his wife of 57 years, Julie (Boudreau) Guagenty; and 3 sons; Michael & his wife, Kelly and their children, Cheryl & Macaela; Andrew & his wife, Lauren and their children, J.T. & James; and Matthew & his wife, Laurie and their children, Tyler & Gavin.

Pete was pre-deceased by his daughter, Karen O'Neil in 2018 and is survived by son-in-law, Sean O'Neil and their children, Clea & Zoe.

Pete was very proud of his children and their accomplishments; academically, awards for papers written, sports, and graduating from college.

There are no calling hours, burial will be private.
