Obituary

John George Fashjian, 84 of Framingham, formerly of Shrewsbury, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 21st at his home with his family by his side.  Born in Worcester, he was the son of the late Sarkis "Mike" and Roxie (Ashjian) Fashjian and husband of Michele (Abladian) Fashjian for 58 years.   In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Kristina Greene and her husband Dan of Westford, and Michael Fashjian and his wife Jackie of Shrewsbury, five grandchildren, Caitlin, Samantha, and Michael Greene, and Millaina and Hayley Fashjian, and one sister, Marie Damon of Holden and several nieces and nephews.  John is pre-deceased by his two sisters Charlotte Divrigian of Saugus and Beatrice Aghajanian of Braintree.

After serving in the US Army National Guard, John started his career in car sales in 1965.  In the mid-70's he struck out on his own with Fashjian Motors selling used cars.  Shortly after, he had the opportunity to purchase a Chrysler Plymouth dealership and John took it. John and Michele established Framingham Chrysler Plymouth Dodge in 1978.  In 2006, John decided it was time to retire and devote more time to his passions.

He could often be found on the golf course winning bets from his friends. Whether he was taking a cruise to Martha's Vineyard with family, heading up Florida's inter-coastal with friends, or just cleaning his boat, John always had a smile on his face while humming a catchy tune. He and Michele were fortunate enough to travel the world together making friends everywhere they went.

Always quick with a joke, John was fun-loving and the life of the party anywhere he went. But he was also serious about giving back to his community. Over the years, he ran several charity golf tournaments for the Armenian Children's milk fund and worked with Frank Sinatra on a fundraiser for the Jimmy Fund. He also volunteered with the Boy Scouts of America, earning him the Silver Beaver Award in 1990 and the Distinguished Citizen of the Year award in 1995.

Above all else, John was a unique individual, that made a distinct impression on all he met. Embodying the lyrics of one of his favorite songs, John did it his way, always.
