John J. Curtin 19, of Ashland died July 14 as a result of an auto accident. Born in Waltham, he was the son of John and Edwina (Aucoin) Curtin. He is also survived by his sister: Jennifer Curtin of Ashland, his paternal grandfather: Donald Curtin of Waltham, several aunts, uncles and cousins. He is also survived by his surrogate grandmother Missy Supple and her son Edward Supple. He was the grandson of the late John and Evelyn Aucoin and Ann Marie Curtin. John was a graduate of Ashland High School Class of 2007. He attended and graduated from Benjamin Franklin Institute obtaining his HVAC Certification in 2008. John loved hockey, skiing, paintball, his uncle Richard's cooking, trips to Vermont, and the beach. He had just returned from a trip to Mexico where he swam with dolphins. A funeral Mass will be said on Saturday morning in St. Cecilia's Church, 54 Esty St. Ashland at 9:00 am. Calling hours will be held on Friday evening at the Matarese Funeral Home 325 Main St., Ashland; from 5-8pm. Interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of Flowers donations may be made in his memory to John Joseph Curtin Memorial Fund c/o Middlesex Savings Bank 5 West Union St. Ashland, MA 01721. Donations will be directed to the Demon Youth Hockey.
