John Paul
Butterfield
Mar 14, 1951 — Aug 22, 2022
Ashland
Jack (John Paul) Butterfield decided he'd had enough of cancer and left his broken body behind on August 22, 2022. He moved on to join our parents and brother, Jeff, in the next place.
Jack loved his hometown of Ashland and always found his way back from wherever his adventures took him. He spent his younger years playing in the swamp and climbing trees in the woods by our grandparents' farm. Summers were spent at the beach in Manomet swimming, fishing, sailing and boating
Jack graduated from Ashland High School in 1969. He went on to attend Salem State College. His school years were filled with music. Jack picked up a guitar when he was 14 and never put it down. His high school band, The Empty Pockets, was well known and loved. Later, he was a member of the band, Gross National Productions.
Jack will always be remembered for his incredible sense of humor, his amazing relationships with his many nieces, who especially loved to climb on him like a tree, his musical talent and his kind and loving nature.
He leaves behind his niece, Josie Goulet, two nephews, Justin Shimasaki and Jeremy Butterfield. Three great nieces, Ashayla, Chantelle and Leah, two great-great nieces, Zahrylie and Zaviah, one great-great nephew Carter and coming in October a second great-great nephew, Cooper. He also leaves behind,,,me. His only sister Joni Butterfield McMahon. His biggest fan. See you on the other side my love.
In lieu of flowers...sing.
