Obituary

John C. Berry 83 of Ashland passed away December 30th in Framingham after a period of declining health. He was the husband of Amalia (Bossi) Berry and they had been married 60 years. Born in Southboro, MA he was the son of the late Batista and Maria (Dallevalle) Berry and had lived in Ashland since 1946. He was employed with the Perini Corp. retiring in 1962 after 45 years of service. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the United States Marine Corps. He was a member of the James O. Carey Post #77 American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 2331 both in Ashland. He also was a member of St. Cecilia's Church in Ashland. Besides his wife he is survived by two daughters:Barbara Galluzzo and close friend Raymond Cook of Bristol,VT. Cynthia Diaz and her husband Jesus of Ashland. One brother: Paul Berry of Southboro. Three sisters: Rena Nicoli of Framingham, Caroline Pessini of Southboro, and Mary Castagnetti of Medford. Five grandchildren: Stephen Galluzzo, Kim Wozniak, David Galluzzo, Jason Diaz, and Alyson Sawin. Four great grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Lawrence Berry and Eleanor Joy, and Joseph Casella. A funeral Mass will be said on Tuesday morning at 9:00 a.m. in St. Cecilia's Church Esty St. Ashland with interment to follow in Wildwood Cemetery in Ashland. Calling hours will be held from the Matarese Funeral Home 325 Main St. Ashland on Monday evening from 5-8 p.m.
