Obituary

Joan C. (Fairbanks) Gimskie 75, of Framingham formerly of Ashland and Hopkinton, passed away Friday Decemebr 15th in Framingham after a period of declining health. She was the wife of Robert Gimskie and they were married 43 years. Born in Framingham she was the daughter of the late Harold and Constance (Taylor) Fairbanks and she had lived in Framingham over 25 years. Mrs. Gimskie was a member of the St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Hopkinton and was a former choir director. She also was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution in Framingham. Besides her husband she is survived by her children: Bruce MacKay and his wife Caroline of Fayetteville NC, and Janis Mackay of Wake Forest, NC; her step children, Allyn Gimskie and his wife Cindy of Port Charlotte, FL, Linda Bamber of Manchester, NH, and Kathleen Gimskie of Auburn, MA; one brother, Dean Fairbanks and his wife Margaret; and one sister, Christine Mackay and her husband Charles; six grandchildren, Kimberly and Michael Myers, Heather and Noreldeen Alsaka, and Merrie and Nicholas Marks; three great grandchildren, Alexander Marks, Trae Myers, and Jaclyne Myers; and several nieces and nephews. A Memorial service will be held on Sunday December 17th at 3:00 PM in St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 61 Wood Street, Hopkinton, MA. There are no calling hours. Donations may be made in her memory to the St. Paul's Episcopal Church 61 Wood St. Hopkinton, MA 01748. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Matarese Funeral Home (www.mataresefuneral.com) in Ashland.
