Jens Thoresen, Sr., 83, of Ashland passed away Saturday, December 14th after a period of declining health. Born in Oslo, Norway, he was the son of the late Jens and Walborg (Larsen) Thoresen.  He leaves his wife of 61 years, Barbara, and his four children: Gail Manning (Tom) of Clinton, WA; Paula Lammerding (Eric) of Ashland; Jens Thoresen, Jr. (Deb) of Ashland; Jane (late husband Lloyd Plasse) of Whitman, and eight grandchildren.

Jens has resided in Ashland for 70 years and was known by many for of his tireless work with the Ashland Lions Club. He joined in 1972 and served as President of the Lions at one time and was the Melvin Jones Recipient as well as receiving the Sight Award.  He served his country honorably in the Army from 1958-1961.  He was employed by GE/Telechron and Raytheon as a manager and retired in 2001.

A funeral service will be held at 10 AM on Friday, December 20th in the Chapel of the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main Street, Ashland.
