Obituary

JEAN POOLE SAVAGE, 85, of So. Yarmouth, MA; passed away peacefully on December 12th of complications from Alzheimer's disease at Eagle Pond Nursing Home in So. Dennis, MA. Jean was born in Newton, MA on April 21, 1922 to Pauline (Lucas) and Russell Viles, and graduated from Newton High School in 1939. She met and married her husband, William Poole of Arkansas in 1942 while he was in the U.S. Navy, and traveled with him during the war. They lived in Ashland, MA where they raised their family for 22 years. After Bill's death in 1978, Jean met and married Jack Savage, also of Ashland, to whom she was married for 28 years. They moved to So. Yarmouth, Cape Cod, where they enjoyed playing bridge, entertaining friends and family, and the beach. They also shared a love of watching baseball and travelling. Jean was a very social, fun-loving, kind person who cherished her many friendships and truly appreciated the richness of her life. In addition to her loving husband, Jean leaves her brother Paul Viles of Sebago Lake, ME, her three children, Robert (Ronni) of Westborough, MA, James (Susan) of Somerset, VA, Barbara (the late Chris Karlen) of Orinda, CA, stepsons Eugene and John Savage, five grandchildren and a great-grandson. A service will be held at the Matarese Funeral Home in Ashland on Saturday, Dec. 15th at 10:00 a.m., followed by internment at Wildwood Cemetary. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Matthew R. Pano Scholarship Fund c/o Afidia Bank, 100 W. Main Street, Westborough, MA, 01581.
