Jean Racey, 77, of Framingham passed away peacefully Wednesday May 4th with her daughter by her side. She was the daughter of the late George Hoey and Laura (Urbinati) Wharton. A graduate of Framingham High School, Jean worked for Dennison Manufacturing before moving to Washington DC where she was the secretary for the Secretary of the Navy during the Kennedy presidency. After moving back to Massachusetts she worked at Natick Labs as a financial analyst and later as a waitress at various local restaurants, including Marconi's, Union House, La Cantina, and Friendly's. In addition, Jean volunteered as a Pink Lady at Metrowest Medical Center in Framingham.
Mrs. Racey is survived by one daughter, Lisa Forman and her husband Michael of Framingham, grandchildren, Meghan, Matthew, and Nicole, brother, Gerald Seymour and his wife Linda, many nieces and nephews, and her longtime friend and companion Richard Callahan.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday May 14th at 10:00am in St. Tarcisius Church in Framingham with burial to follow in St. Tarcisius Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Friday from 4:00-7:00 PM in the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St. in Ashland. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Lung Association, Donation Processing Center, PO Box 7000, Albert Lea, MN 56007-8001
