Jean M. Mackiernan, 86, formerly of Millis and Wellesley, MA passed away Sun. Dec. 24th after a period of declining health.  Born in Framingham, she was the daughter of the late Ole and Mildred (Walker) Durmer.  Jean had a long career in accounting for companies in MA and CT.  She loved the performing arts, especially dance and was a ballet teacher for many years in Holliston, MA as well as an active member of the Golden Tones singing group in Wayland, MA.  Jean was an avid bird watcher and nature lover.

She is survived by four children, Ellen Burns (Jim) of Wellesley, MA, Suzanne Natale of Westfield, MA, Maureen Englund of W. Wareham, MA, and Steven Smith (April Weeks) of Hopkinton, MA, 7 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, brother, Peter Durmer of Mashpee, MA, and sister, Maryann Durmer, of New York, NY.  She was the mother of the late Henry Smith Jr.

A funeral service will be held Wed. Dec. 27th at 11:00am in the Chapel of the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St. Ashland, MA with burial to follow in Wildwood Cemetery in Ashland.  Visiting hours will be held Wed. from 9:00-10:30am prior to the service.  In lieu of flowers donations in Jean's memory may be made to Mass Audubon, 208 South Great Road, Lincoln, MA 01773
