Janice Elaine Demetrius, 61, of Framingham, formerly of Ashland and Hopkinton; passed away, Monday, Oct. 16th at her home in Framingham. She was the wife of the late Alan "Tuffy" Demetrius who died in 2000. Mrs. Demetrius was born in Ware and was the daughter of the late Norman and Jeanette (Giard) Fischer. She graduated from Ware High School in 1962. Mrs. Demetrius was employed at Wellesley High School as an Information Processing Secretary for 18 years. She loved children and always enjoyed traveling. She had planned a trip to Brazil for December. Mrs. Demetrius leaves one sister Joan Zelazo and her husband Lawrence of Palmer; one nephew, Nelson Brothers, Jr.; one niece, Michelle Staples; one great-nephew, Bryan Brothers; two grand nieces, Jessica and Isabelle Brothers, her godchild Kayla Staples and several loving cousins. Mrs. Demetrius was predeceased by her daughter, Dawn Demetrius who died in 2004. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, October 27th at 7:00 PM in the Chapel of the Matarese Funeral Home, (www.mataresefuneral.com), 325 Main Street in Ashland, MA 01721. Visiting hours will be held from 6-7:00 PM prior to the service, at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Bourne National Cemetery at a later date.
