Obituary

Jane Elizabeth (Guerrieri) Bonvini, age 61, of Nantucket, MA, died peacefully at Nantucket Cottage Hospital on September 23, 2014 after a long illness. Born and raised in Framingham, MA, Jane moved to Nantucket in 1983 where she worked at Nantucket Cottage Hospital for the next 27 years. She rose through the ranks at NCH and when she retired in 2010 was the Vice President of Patient Care Services and Director of Nursing. She truly loved her job at NCH and dedicated much of her life to bringing exceptional care and comfort to so many in our community. Throughout her career, Jane personally attended to or directed her fellow nurses in the care of hundreds, perhaps thousands of patients who have lived on or visited Nantucket. In 2012, "Jane's Corner" at the NCH Emergency Room was dedicated in honor of her exceptional care of children. When not at work, Jane loved to enjoy the outdoor beauty of Nantucket. She could often be found with her family and friends on her beloved Coatue, or boating, golfing, fishing, or catching a sunset at Smith's Point. She inherited a love of cooking from her family, and her authentic gnocchi, raviolis, pizzelles, and other delicious treats will be sorely missed. Jane was predeceased by her parents, Louis and Patricia Guerrieri. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Devon Murphy, her grandchildren Amelia and Ben, as well as her siblings Kelli Wilson, Louis Guerrieri, Ann Maloney, Dottie Blackmarr and Michael and Vicki Guerrieri. Among Jane's greatest treasures, beyond her daughter and grandchildren, were the many loving friends she also leaves behind including Pam, David, and Jack Killen, Margot Hartmann, Rita Chrappa, Tim Lepore, Betsey Minihan, and Siobhain and Finnuala Klawetter. A burial service will be held at Matarese Funeral Home in Ashland, MA Saturday, September 27, 2014 at 10am, and she will be laid to rest alongside her parents at Wildwood Cemetery in Ashland, MA. A memorial mass on Nantucket will be held at Saint Mary's on October 13, 2014 at 11am with a reception following. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Jane Bonvini Memorial Fund which will go to support educational opportunities of our island nurses. Donations can be sent to the Community Foundation for Nantucket, reference Jane Bonvini Memorial Fund, PO Box 204, Nantucket, MA 02554.
