James A Sullivan Jr, 67 of Ashland passed away peacefully Sat. Aug 17th at his home surrounded by his family. Son of the late James and Anne (Garvey) Sullivan; he was the loving husband of Kathleen (Dagle) Sullivan for 42 years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Meghan Clark and her husband Stephen of Ashland, and Daniel Sullivan also of Ashland, grandchildren Grady and Annie Clark; sister, Maryanne Lally and her husband Timothy of Sandwich, MA, brothers, Mark Sullivan of Watertown, MA, David Sullivan and his wife Catherine of East Hampton, MA, , sister-in-law Jacqueline Sullivan of Minetonka, MN wife of the late Peter Sullivan, and a nephew and many nieces. He is also survived by his Aunt Alice Gallivan of San Antonio, TX, his brother-in-law Michael Dagle and wife Denise of Framingham, MA. He is predeceased by his brother Thomas Sullivan and sister-in-law Patricia Dagle.
A Marian High School and Northeastern University graduate, Jim went on to work as a customer service representative for Sylvania for 35 years, retiring in 2008. Jim was active member of the Metrowest community, coaching Ashland Youth sports, as a faithful parishioner at St.Matthews Parish in Southborough, and generous with his time in helping many local charities. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus Council 119 in Southborough, MA. He also led an impassioned group on a yearly "tour" supporting local establishments on Super Bowl Sunday.
Always known as Sully, his nickname was affectionately changed to "P" by his grandchildren Grady and Annie, a moniker that was adopted by his family and friends. Whether at a ball field, on the deck grilling, vacationing at Goose Rocks Beach, or surrounded by friends, Jim's infectious personality and signature belly laugh left a lasting impression on everyone. He will be missed.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday Aug. 22nd at 10:00am in St. Matthew's Church, 26 Highland St. Southboro, MA with burial to follow in Wildwood Cemetery in Ashland. Calling hours will be held Wed. from 4:00-7:00 PM in the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St. Ashland, MA. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Jimmy Fund, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284-9168.
