James Edward Riggs, age 64, of Ashland, passed away on Monday, March 14, 2022, at Tufts medical center in Boston surrounded by his family.  He was the loving husband of Mary (Andrus) Riggs.

Born October 30, 1957 in Highland, Illinois, James was the son of the late Orville and Stella (Welles) Riggs. Raised and educated in Illinois, Jim attended Highland High School and went on to work at Briar's carnival where he first met Mary.  The two were married on January 29, 1977.  In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by his son, Robert Alan Riggs of Ashland and his siblings, Lyndon, Don, and Lisa.

Jim lived every day to the fullest.  He spent hours reading on the porch or outdoors, fishing, planting, and tending to his garden.  He appreciated the small gifts of nature. He loved watching the birds and local wildlife while enjoying every changing season.  A loving husband and father, Jim was a great friend to many and will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Jim for a period of visitation on Thursday, March 24 ^th, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main Street, Ashland, MA 01721.
