James (Jim) R. Candow, 66, of Ashland, MA, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2014 with his family by his side. He is survived by his wife, Wendy Candow, two daughters; Heidi Blongastainer and her husband, Brian, of Franklin, MA, Gwenn Jeffrey and her husband, Derek, of Barre, MA, five beautiful granddaughters, Emma, Hannah, Clara, Annie, and Harper, one sister, Laraine Conway and her husband, David, of Omaha, NE, many nieces and nephews, and his border collie buddy, Roy. Jim had three favorite past times, spending lots of time with his grandchildren, hanging in the barn with his horses, and Sunday afternoon cooking and watching the Patriots with Wendy. Family was the absolute most important thing in the world to him and there wasn't anything he wouldn't do for his kids and grandkids. He was lovingly known as "Ampa" by his granddaughters. He has left a big void in everybody's heart. His silly jokes and long stories will be deeply missed. A funeral service will be held on Monday October 13th at 11am in the chapel of the Matarese Funeral Home 325 Main Street in Ashland. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a CANTER NEW ENGLAND, www.canterusa.org or The American Heart Association, www.heart.org.
