Isreal (Bud) Martin, formally of Southborough, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2016 in Plymouth, Massachusetts, with family by his side. He was born on January 23, 1931 in Lemington, Maine, the son of John and Marie Martin.
Bud was a graduate of Cornish, Maine High School in 1949 and married Theresa Leclerc on October 28, 1950. He began his twenty-year military career in the Air Force shortly before his marriage and was stationed throughout the US and the Far East, retiring as a Master Sergeant. Bud then continued his service to his country for an additional twenty years as a civilian electronics instructor at Fort Devens in Ayer, Massachusetts.
Two children, Denise Nicholson and Thomas Martin both of Massachusetts, predeceased him. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Theresa and six children; Steven Martin of Texas, Rosemary Boothby of Vermont, Craig Martin of North Carolina, Cynthia Rizzotto of Massachusetts, Ivonne Maxwell of Texas and Sharon McKinnon of Arkansas. Additionally, thirteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren survive Bud.
He is also survived by three brothers and one sister; Paul Martin of Maine, Anthony Martin and Roger Martin both of New Hampshire, and Joyce Martin of Maine.
Bud was a devout Catholic and member of St. Anne's Church in Southborough, Massachusetts as well as the Knights of Columbus for over 40 years.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, January 15th from 5-7PM at the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main Street in Ashland.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Anne's Church in Southborough on Saturday, January 16th at 10AM. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery in Southborough.
