Irene M. (Shea) Dalton, 84, of Ashland, passed away in Milford June 9th after a period of declining health. She was the wife of the late John Dalton, who died in 2004. Born in Boston she was the daughter of the late Charles and Catherine Shea of South Boston. She is survived by: her children, Kathleen Keenan and her husband Joseph of Hampton, N.H., Gerard Horbert and his wife Terry of Uxbridge, Frank Horbert and his wife Doreen of Bellingham, Christine Sheppard and her husband, Nelson of Milford; Stepmother of Sharon Davis and her husband, Mark of Franklin, and William Dalton of Bluffton, Indiana; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Francine Horbert. Mrs. Dalton was a graduate of Regis College in Weston, Class of 1945. She worked for the Record-American Newspaper of Boston, the FBI offices in Boston and San Francisco, Dean Jr. College in Franklin, and Zayre Corporation of Framingham. She was a member of FBI Alumni, Natick Senior Center, Regis College Alumnae, and the Ladies' Auxiliary, 2331, of Ashland. A funeral Mass will be said on Friday morning at 9:00am in St. Cecilia's Church, Esty St. Ashland with interment to follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Ashland. Calling hours will be held from the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St., Ashland on Thursday evening from 5-7pm.
