Obituary

UXBRIDGE - Howard Edward (Eddie) Miles, 82, of Uxbridge, formerly of Framingham and Ashland, passed away Dec. 22, 2018, after a period of declining health.

Born in Framingham, the son of Kathleen Miles, Howard graduated from Framingham High School in 1953. After graduation, he enlisted in the US Marine Corps and was stationed in Paris Island, SC, and Camp Lejeune, NC. Howard was a Korean War Veteran, 2nd Division, 6th Marines. Upon discharge from the Marines, he joined the Framingham Police Department and was a Framingham Police Officer for many years. While an officer in Framingham, he received many awards, including two life-saving awards for saving the lives of two infants.

After resigning from the police force, Howard became a State Certified EMT Instructor Coordinator for Framingham Union Hospital. He performed and taught many EMT courses for local responders. He also became a member of the Ashland on-call Fire Department. Howard was extremely proud of his accomplishments as a Marine and as a first responder, however, his biggest accomplishments were his children.

Howard is survived by his children: Dana (Morrissey) Aniello and her husband Frank of Upton, his son Gregory Morrissey of Bellingham, his daughter Kelley (Miles) Kenney of Holliston and his youngest daughter, Tricia (Miles) Trask of Uxbridge. Howard was very proud of his grandchildren, Tyler, Alicia, Vincenzo, Arianna, Brody and Jack, whom he loved with all his heart.

Howard was one of nine children and is survived by his brothers Ray Miles of Shrewsbury, Paul Miles of Oxford, Richard Miles of Florida and sister Francis Miles of West Boylston. He was predeceased by his brothers David Miles, Rodney Miles and sisters Kathleen Miles and Mary Ellen Miles.

A memorial service will be held Sat. Jan. 5 th at 11:00am in the Chapel of the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St. Ashland. One calling hour will be held Saturday from 10:00-11:00am prior to the service. Howard will be laid to rest in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA, in the Spring.
